MY STORY
Thank you for reading.
For 15 years, I dedicated my life to helping animals in need. I loved it, and for many years it filled my life with joy. During that time, I had an incredibly special companion named Kuzco — my dog, my family, and my emotional support. For 14 years, he took care of me just as much as I took care of him. He was my shadow, witnessed me become a mother, watched over my babies, and continues to hold a special place in my heart to this day.
As an avid animal lover and with years of experience in the veterinary field, I had the privilege of meeting wonderful people and witnessing many beautiful moments. But I also saw heartbreak when families said goodbye to their beloved pets. I always knew that when Kuzco’s time came, my life would change forever. Toward the end of 2019, as I watched him grow older, I faced the most difficult decision of my life — letting him go. Kuzco passed peacefully on December 3rd, 2019.
After his passing, I continued working with animals, but something had shifted. The heartache I once helped others navigate now hit closer to home. Even the joyful moments couldn’t ease the pain. Then, on New Year’s Eve of 2019, I had a vivid dream — I was at a farmer’s market selling soaps. I didn’t know why, but the dream felt real, warm, and full of purpose. I woke up and told myself, “I have to do it.”
At the beginning of 2020, I suffered another deep loss — my incredible grandmother, “Mamita.” She was a strong Peruvian woman, my second mother, and the person who taught me about our culture, food, music, and perseverance. In her honor, Pura Tierra Inka Blends began to take shape — Peruvian-themed for her, and with the “K” in Inka in honor of Kuzco.
With this new sense of direction, I began dreaming not only of helping animals but also of helping people — by creating something natural, meaningful, and full of love. I spent six months learning everything I could, researching, testing, and planning. By August 2020, I retired from my work as a Veterinary Technician and dedicated myself fully to my family, my business, and this dream.
Together, my husband and I built Pura Tierra Inka Blends from the ground up. We learned through trial and error, faced rejection, and made mistakes — but we also found support, listened to feedback, and grew with our customers. Our motivation comes from seeing people happy with our products, sharing the beauty of Peruvian culture, and honoring the wisdom of Indigenous groups who have used natural ingredients for generations.
Our goal is to create unique, affordable, and all-natural products for everyone willing to Trust the Inka Way. We love what we do and enjoy connecting with our community at farmers markets and pop-up events. Through this journey, I’ve met countless inspiring people and made many wonderful friends — and I know I’ve found my true calling.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for supporting our small business. I hope to see you at one of our future events or at our little shop in Garden Grove, CA!
With love,
Yajaira Morales
